The Idaho Jail System
There are 37 jail facilities in Idaho's 44 counties and the state's jail population in 2005 was 3,787 inmates. An Idaho jails inspection program with voluntary compliance is operated by the ID Sheriffs' Assoc.
The Idaho Prison System
The Dept. of Correction operates 8 institutions and 5 community work centers. In June, 2011, the department had 7,578 inmates occupying facility beds. The agency had 1,595 employees in 2010 and a budget of $163.5 million.
The Community Corrections System
The DOC's Div. of Field & Community Services supervise 56,975 probationers and 3,447 parolees through 22 district and satellite offices in 2009.
