The Vermont Jail System
Vermont has 14 counties and 9 jail facilities and the state jail population in 2005 was 1,975 inmates. The VT Dept. of Corrections conducts jail inspections and enforces standards compliance.
The Prison System
The Dept. of Corrections managed 2,201 inmates in November, 2010. The agency operates 7 facilities and 1 work camp. The agency has 1,039 employees and the FY 2011 budget was $133.4 million.
The Community Corrections System
The Dept. of Corrections Restorative & Community Services supervised 6,833 probationers and 1,087 parolees through 17 field offices.
